"I think there never was another place where, in proportion to the population, so many murders were committed without the criminals being brought to trial or even apprehended." John Riggs - Eldorado Canyon Gold Miner - 1880
Two Indian Nations battled here, a Military Outpost was established and the Techatticup, one of Nevada’s richest gold mines was discovered. It was productive for nearly 80 years, from 1861 until 1942.
A walking tour is offered daily, at 9am, 12pm and 2pm when we have 4 or more adults. It’s an easy quarter mile on gravel and only one level and takes about an hour and 10 minutes. It can be a bit breezy and cool inside the mine, especially in the winter.
