The Gatsby Festival is a two-day event at the Tallac Historic Site held each year the second weekend in August. Throughout the weekend a variety of activities take place on the Pope and Baldwin Estates­—vintage car shows, musicians , children’s games from the 1920’s, vendors of period clothing, jewelry and other items plus the sale of the annual Gatsby poster. Food and fun will be plentiful! Feel free to come in costume and spend the day!

Between 1870 and 1893, the Carson City Mint produced nearly $50 million (face value) of gold and silver coins, including gold double eagles ($20) and eagles ($10), half eagles ($5), silver dollars, half dollars, quarters, dimes and 20-cent pieces. With the Comstock boom played out, the Mint stopped producing coins in 1893 and the coin presses were removed in 1899.
