In the shadow of 13,063-foot Wheeler Peak, 5,000 year old bristlecone pine trees grow on rocky glacial moraines. Come to Great Basin National Park to experience the solitude of the desert, the smell of sagebrush after a thunderstorm, the darkest of night skies, and the beauty of Lehman Caves.
The National Park can be found via US Highways 6 and 50 east from Ely or west from Delta Utah, turning south to Baker on Highway 487, and turning west on 488. A Welcome Center is a short distance up the road and the park headquarters are five miles uphill from Baker.
For any Park inquiries, contact the park headquarters at 775-234-7331, which is available during weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm. It is closed on federal holidays.
